Creating Your First Program

Learn how to create your first Program and launch initiatives within your Platform.

A Program is your call for applications: a challenge, award, hackathon, hiring intake or any other initiative. In this guide, you'll create your first program and set up its main page.

What is a Program?

Each Program has its own content page, rounds, forms, evaluators and timeline.

Tips

  • Create a separate program for each project or event, for example one innovation competition on your "Innovation" platform.

  • Shape the rounds, forms, judging and timeline around your goals.

  • Run as many programs at once as you need. They don't affect each other.

Create a Program

  1. On your dashboard, open the right Workspace and click Manage on your platform.

2. Click Programs in the top bar.

3. Click + New Program. A draft called "New Program (Draft)" is created right away, with a first round, and its page opens so you can set it up.

Tip: the programs list has Home, Ongoing, Completed, Archived and Trash tabs. Each card's ⋯ menu has Archive, Publish, Clone, Feature, Hide from participants and Remove.

Set up the program page

Your program opens on its Content tab, in the About section.

  1. Program Title: replace "New Program (Draft)" with your program's name.

  2. Program Slug: the part of the web address that comes after your platform domain.

  3. About Section Title and description: what participants read first on your program page. Add your main image in the right column.

  4. Type: for example competition, hackathon, award or accelerator. See Understanding Untap Program Types.

  5. Tags: add sector tags to categorize your program.

  6. Visibility: choose who can see the program:
    • Public: anyone with the link
    • Logged-In Users: registered users only
    • Invited Only: people you invite
    • Private Domains: people with specific email domains

  7. Countdown: pick a date, usually your submission deadline. See Countdown Timers: Program Page vs Website.

  8. Display options: choose whether to reveal the number of submissions or views, disable chat with participants, send weekly roundup emails, allow open applications without account creation, use a horizontal content menu, or enable a custom program URL.

  9. Click Save Content.

Program header controls

At the top of the program page you'll find:

  • The publish switch: grey while in draft, green when published.

  • View: see the program page as participants do.

  • Direct Application URL: copy the apply link.

  • Button Label Settings: rename Apply Now and other buttons.

  • Archive and Delete.

Below the header, use Analytics for the program dashboard and + New Round to add rounds.
