Cloning an Existing Program

Learn how to duplicate a program to run recurring initiatives without starting from scratch.

Running the same program again, such as an annual award? Clone it to reuse your whole setup, then update the details for the new edition. You'll start fresh, with no old submissions.

Clone a program

  1. Go to Programs in the top bar of your platform.

  2. Find the program you want to copy.

  3. Click the ⋯ menu on the program card.

  4. Choose Clone.

Your new program appears in the list as a Draft, with "copy" added to its title. It also gets its own URL slug.

Reuse your old program's web address

Each program has a unique URL slug (for example /innovation-challenge). A slug belongs to one program at a time, even if that program is archived or unpublished.

To give your new program the old program's address, free up the slug first.

Step 1: Change the old program's slug

  1. Open the old program's Content tab and go to the About section.

  2. In Program Slug, change the slug to something new, for example from innovation-challenge to innovation-challenge-2024.

  3. Click Save Content. The original address is now free.

Step 2: Give the new program the original slug

  1. Open your cloned program's Content tab and go to the About section.

  2. In Program Slug, enter the original slug (for example innovation-challenge).

  3. Click Save Content.

Decide what happens to the old program

Choose how the previous program should appear to past participants.

Option A: Keep access for past participants (recommended)

Set the old program's Visibility to Invited Only (Content tab, right side). It's hidden from the public, and past applicants and evaluators can still see their data.

Option B: Close it completely

If no one needs the old program anymore, turn off its publish switch at the top right of the program page. The program goes back to Draft and is hidden from everyone. Your data stays safe.

Good to know: evaluators can't evaluate an unpublished program, so finish judging first.

Before you publish the new program

  • Title: remove "copy" from the Program Title.

  • Dates: update each round's Submission Dates and Evaluation Dates (Settings → General Settings), and the Countdown on the Content tab.

  • Content: check your program page for mentions of "last year" or old dates.

  • Launch: turn on the publish switch at the top right of the program page.
