Importing Evaluations

Bring scores collected outside Untap into a round with a CSV or XLSX file.

Collected scores outside Untap? You can import them into a round so they show up with the rest of your evaluations. This is handy when judges scored offline or at a live event, or when you've moved a submission to another track and want to bring its evaluations back.

It works just like importing submissions: download a template, fill it in, and upload it as a CSV or XLSX file.

Before you start

  • Add your evaluators first. Every evaluator in your file must already be added as an evaluator before you import. Add them in the round's Evaluators tab (see Inviting and Managing Judges (Evaluators)), and use the same email in your file.

  • The evaluation form exists. The round needs the evaluation form the scores belong to.

  • The submissions are in the round. Each evaluation is linked to a submission that's already in this round.

Import evaluations

  1. Open your program and click the round's tab.

  2. Click the Evaluators tab.

  3. Click ⋯ More options, then Import.

  4. Choose the form under Select evaluation form.

  5. Click Download template.

  6. Fill in the template (see below) and save it as CSV or XLSX.

  7. Click Upload File (CSV or XLSX) and choose your file.

  8. Click Upload.

The dialog reminds you of the two key rules: File columns must include evaluator info and File question titles must match.

Fill in the template

Always start from the template you download for your form. It already has the right columns and question titles, so don't rename or reorder them. Add one row per evaluator per submission.

Column

What to enter

Evaluator Name

The evaluator's full name, for example Jane Doe.

Evaluator Email

The email of an evaluator you've already added, for example [email protected].

Submission ID

The ID of the submission the evaluation belongs to. Always use the Submission ID here, even if your round has a submission title set.

One column per question

The evaluator's answer to each question. The headers match your evaluation form's question titles exactly.

How to write answers

  • Rating questions: enter a number, for example 4.

  • Choice questions: enter the option text exactly as it appears in the form, for example Option 1.

  • Text questions: enter plain text, such as the evaluator's feedback.

A finished row might look like this: Jane Doe | [email protected] | 1 | 4 | 4 | 4 | Option 1 | Great pitch, clear plan.

Check the result

After the upload, make sure the scores came through:

  • For all submissions: go to the round's Submissions tab and switch the view selector to Round Scores.

  • For one submission: click its title and open the All Evaluations tab.

Troubleshooting

  • Evaluator not recognized? Add them as an evaluator first, then import again. The email in your file must match the one they were added with.

  • Question titles don't match? Download the template again for the right form under Select evaluation form, and copy your answers into it without changing the headers.

  • Evaluation not showing on a submission? Check the Submission ID in that row. It must be the ID of a submission in this round, not its title.

  • A choice answer is rejected or missing? Make sure the text matches the option in the form exactly, including spelling and capitals.

  • File won't upload? Save it as CSV or XLSX and try again.
