Troubleshooting Submissions: Videos, Missing Data and Missing Entries

Fixes for videos that won't play, empty columns, and submissions a participant says they sent but you can't find.

Quick fixes for the most common submission questions: videos that won't play, entries you can't find, and empty columns.

A video won't play for evaluators or admins

  1. Open the submission in Google Chrome. Some video formats, especially .mov files from phones, don't play in every browser.

  2. If it still won't play, ask the participant for a new copy: in the Submissions tab, open the submission's ⋮ menu and click Enable Editing. Then ask them to re-upload the video as MP4.

Tip: to prevent this, set the upload question's Allowed Extensions to .mp4 in the form builder, or use a Video Recorder question instead.

A participant says they applied, but you can't find the submission

  • Switch the list to Drafts (next to Submissions and Trash). They may not have clicked Submit yet.

  • Check Trash in case it was removed.

  • Search by name and by email. They may have used a different account or email.

  • Make sure you're looking at the right round and track.

A column in the table shows "-"

A dash means there's no value for that field. Check that the field is part of the form for that track, or that it's a registration Custom Field the participant filled in.

Still stuck?
